Norseman Blue Light WA™ Pushes for Safer Cycling
9 August 2025
In a regional hub like Norseman—where around 760 vehicles pass through daily, including heavy mining road trains and caravanning tourists—cycling safety is more than just important; it’s essential.
In 2024, the community was reminded just how crucial bike safety is after a tragic accident and a few close calls involving cyclists on the Eyre Highway. These events sparked a collaborative effort to better protect young people in the community.
Recognising the need for action, the Norseman Blue Light WA™ team stepped up to promote safer riding practices, visiting Norseman District High School to deliver an engaging and informative road safety session.
The program covered everything from how to cross roads safely and the importance of visible clothing and helmets, to a hands-on demonstration of how effective helmets can be. Students also learned about electric scooter laws and what to do if things go wrong on the road.
To ensure every student could put their new skills into action, free helmets were generously provided.
Thank you to First Class Constable Woods and the team for building a safer, more aware cycling community.
