Police Commissioner Col Blanch APM

Mr Blanch joined the WA Police Force as Assistant Commissioner of Intelligence & Command before being appointed Deputy Commissioner. In 2022, he became the 29th Commissioner of Police.

Mr Blanch has a drive to make life safer for every member of our community, a dedication to duty and a commitment to frontline Police Officers.

Mr Geoff Stooke AM CitWA

Geoff has served as the Chairperson of PCYC since 2018, bringing a wealth of experience from across multiple industries to his leadership of the organisation.

Geoff has been recognised for his outstanding contributions, receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1999, the Australian Sports Medal in 2000, and the Centenary Medal in 2003. In 2006, he was named WA Citizen of the Year in the category of Sport. In 2022, Geoff was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Ms Denise Cheir

In addition to her role as Board Director of PCYC, Denise also serves as a non-executive Board Director for the Dogs’ Refuge Home, and has previously held similar roles with Ronald McDonald House Charities WA and Variety WA. She has chaired Fundraising and Brand Advisory Boards, been a member of the Capital Fundraising Committee for St Vincent de Paul Society, and contributed to Advisory Boards for Foodbank WA, and Brightwater Care Group.

With a robust and influential media network, Denise is an astute businesswoman who believes in combining innovation and collaboration to create impactful brands that benefit the community.

Mr Allen Newton

Allen is one of Perth’s most experienced journalists, with extensive connections in the media industry. Throughout his career, he has held key roles such as founding editor of The Sunday Times website PerthNow, Managing Editor of both The Sunday Times and PerthNow, and Editor-in-Chief of Fairfax Media’s WAtoday.

Allen now works as a partner at Newton Ganska Communications, a boutique public relations and communications firm.

Mr Gary Dreibergs APM

Gary joined the Western Australia Police Force in 1983. During this time, he led Broome PCYC and was recognised for his significant contribution to the Broome community.

In 2012 Gary was appointed as Assistant Commissioner, Regional WA and Deputy Commissioner, Specialist Services in 2014.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gary played a pivotal role in launching and overseeing Operation Tide, WA Police’s emergency response, ensuring the safety and security of Western Australians during a critical time.

Mr Peter Morrison

Peter has been a prominent figure in the property and financial services industry since 1980, having held the roles of CFO of Armstrong Jones and CEO of Armstrong Jones Life Insurance Ltd.

In 2004, Peter co-founded Macro Capital Ltd, which manages a diverse range of funds on behalf of investors.

Beyond his professional achievements, Peter has made significant contributions to community-based sporting clubs, both as a player and as an active committee member.

Mr Darryl Gaunt APM

Darryl joined the Western Australia Police Force in 1982 as a Cadet. He was promoted to Superintendent in 2010 and appointed to lead the South East Metropolitan District, followed by the Goldfields-Esperance District.

Darryl has served extensively across Western Australia, including the Goldfields, Pilbara, and Mid-West Gascoyne regions. Between 2005 and 2010, he led the establishment of Multi-Functional Police Facilities and services in remote Aboriginal communities, responding to the recommendations of the Gordon Inquiry into Family Violence and Child Abuse in Aboriginal Communities.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Darryl was awarded the Australian Police Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2013.

He is currently serving as Assistant Commissioner for Regional Western Australia.

Ron is the former Director General of the Department of Sport and Recreation and the inaugural Coach of the West Coast Eagles.

With extensive experience spanning the government, commercial, and not-for-profit sectors, as well as significant involvement in the at-risk community space, Ron’s expertise aligns closely with PCYC’s goals.
