Published: March 01, 2020 12:00am

ADC Projects has been appointed as the architect for the expansion of Carnarvon PCYC and the refurbishment of Broome PCYC, through $2.3m in State Government funding.

$1m will be spent on the expansion of Carnarvon PCYC which will see centre operations relocate to the former premise of the Carnarvon Senior High School. Modifications to the existing site will allow for a standalone gymnasium, an undercover boxing area, alternate education spaces and new kitchen facilities. Works will ensure the new location can cater for the delivery of recreational activities, diversionary programs and accredited training courses for local children and young people.

A further $1.3m will be invested into the refurbishment of Broome PCYC, forming the first stage of the West Kimberley Youth and Resilience Hub Project.

Upgrades to the existing Broome PCYC facility include the refurbishment of the gym, kitchen and bathrooms, resurfacing of the outdoor basketball courts and restoration and extension of the Stadium, allowing for improved ventilation, insulation and storage, plus a new boxing area.

The three-stage project aims to provide a safe space for young people to participate in recreational and personal development activities, to build life skills and keep them active and engaged.
