Midland PCYC students meet Sculptures by the Sea artists
As part of the Stepping Stones Institute of Training program at Midland PCYC, 11 students had the rare opportunity to attend Sculptures by the Sea where they met some of the artists and learnt about their inspirations, techniques and production of their artwork in a behind-the-scenes tour.
The Stepping Stones program is designed to improve young people’s academic skills to undertake further training or education and enhance their employment opportunities. Through the course, students get to participate in experiences that they wouldn’t normally have the chance to take part in, like this special artist-led tour.
Art has been one of the main topics of this six-month program. In their first week of the program, students created their own pieces of art inspired by Pablo Picasso. The activity was designed to increase the student’s confidence and encourage them to feel proud of what they created.
And the excitement won’t end there! In April, one of the Sculptures by the Sea artists will visit Midland PCYC to deliver a hands-on sculpture workshop. We can’t wait to see their creations!
