Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA officially reopens Rockingham PCYC after $2.86M redevelopment
The Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA officially reopened Rockingham PCYC on Friday 24th March in the presence of the Minister of Police, Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, PCYC Chairperson, Geoff Stooke AM CitWA, Commissioner of Children and Young People, Jacqueline McGowan-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Training, Water, and Youth, Hon Pierre Yang MLC, Mayor of the City of Rockingham, Deb Hamblin, CEO of the City of Rockingham, Michael Parker, other dignitaries and local stakeholders.
The Premier, Minister and VIPs toured the stunning new centre which includes new activity spaces, two new classrooms, an indoor/outdoor courtyard, and office space for Youth Police Officers to co-locate. Thanks to the McGowan State Government’s funding of $2.86m, the upgraded centre will benefit hundreds of local children and young people who attend every week.
PCYC Chairperson, Geoff Stooke thanked the McGowan Government and stated, “This new facility will ensure PCYC can continue to deliver vital programs that will be much needed in a growing community.”
Rockingham PCYC provides many opportunities for children and young people to positively engage in a variety of recreational activities and programs including PCYC’s core diversionary program safeSPACE™ plus Institute of Training courses including Certificate I in Automotive and Certificate I Leadership.
